Neck Lift

What is Involved in a Neck Lift?

A neck lift is the surgical procedure used to combat aging issues along the jaw and neck area. It’s an effective way to tighten up saggy “turkey neck” skin. It’s also used to get rid of excess fat beneath the chin that causes a double chin or fat accompanied by drooping skin along the jaw line that gives you the look of “jowls.”

How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?

Neck lift cost will vary among patients. Each procedure is customized to the needs of each individual, making generalized estimations somewhat difficult.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Contogiannis will thoroughly discuss your specific case and should be able to give you a more accurate cost assessment and breakdown at that time.

Because most cosmetic surgeries are not covered by insurance, at the Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery & Wellness, we try to keep our procedures affordable for all of our clients. We’re pleased to offer financing as an option for your neck lift surgery through Alphaeon® or CareCredit®.

How Does a Neck Lift Work?

Neck lift surgery is generally performed in an outpatient setting using general anesthesia or IV sedation. Small incisions are strategically made to allow access to tighten the muscles and underlying tissue.

One type of neck surgery is called cervicoplasty, and refers to the removal of excess skin. The other is called platysmaplasty, and refers to the tightening of loose muscles in the neck. Surgeons can use one or both procedures to produce the desired results for each patient. For more comprehensive facial rejuvenation, Dr. Contogiannis can also perform a facelift or brow lift in conjunction with your neck lift.

What Are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?

Depending on the reasons for choosing a neck lift, benefits may be different between patients. Some of the more common benefits may include:

  • Heightened sense of self-esteem and increased confidence
  • Improved, younger-looking appearance of the neck
  • Tightened, refined, and contoured chin and jaw line
  • Removal of excess skin
  • Minimized lines, wrinkles, and folds in the lower face and neck area

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

If you’re an adult in good health, with no medical issues that would interfere with the body’s ability to heal, you’re likely a good candidate for neck lift surgery.

Dr. Contogiannis will help you align your expectations with what’s realistic and attainable for your unique circumstances, so you’ll be thrilled with the results.

What Can I Expect During Recovery Following a Neck Lift?

Each person’s body recovers at its own pace, and the extent of the surgery will have some bearing as well. Generally speaking though, you’ll be able to resume your regular activities, including work, within about two weeks following your neck lift surgery.

Some swelling and bruising should be considered normal, but will gradually subside. You may experience a feeling of tightness in the neck area for several weeks to a few months. Dr. Contogiannis will provide you with detailed instructions for recovery and aftercare.
